About Me
I am an enthusiastic, creative digital designer with an eclectic skill set.

My passion is for creating engaging and informative digital interaction designs, providing interactive information in an engaging manner and encouraging further exploration: telling a story that not only supplies information but makes people want to find out more.
My experience, both my current employment and my post-graduate education, is heavily focussed on developing digital assets to provide an educational experience, whether using conventional media (such as Captivate and Articulate) or more innovative technologies such as haptic interfaces and virtual reality environments. My ambition is to present mundane and complex information in a way that is engaging, stimulating and enjoyable.

I am comfortable working individually or as part of a team, taking on responsibility for both my own work and to support the team dynamics and overall project progress, proposing my own ideas and working to integrate them into an optimum solution that more than satisfies the brief. I am always determined to overcome limitations (or to find creative ways to minimise their impact), whether they are in myself, the capabilities of the software that I am using or the time and budgetary constraints of a project. I have high standards and attention to detail, together with the ability to quickly learn new software and to pick up a project and run with it.
Due to poor health during my teens I was home-schooled. As I could not pursue a normal educational path, consequently I have studied a wide variety of subjects in my life.

I started off studying art, history and philosophy long distance. Then I studied photography and printmaking at college, before going on to study animation at university, which covered 3D modelling, image editing, computer animation, video and audio editing, coding. I then went on to do a Masters degree in heritage visualisation, which included heritage theory, games development, augmented and virtual reality, as well as digital recording techniques, and digital archiving methods. I then completed a PGCert in Usability & HCI to round out my UI/UX skills, followed by a Professional Certificate in eLearning Instructional Design, supplemented by extra courses to enhance my skills using Articulate.
My current role involves taking information from subject matter experts (e.g. standards, legislation and best practice), company documentation and customer input (both formal and informal) and transforming all of these into a coherent, informative, stimulating and engaging learning experience. Regular client interaction ensures that the initial training concepts (represented in scripts, storyboards, etc.) meet their needs and that the resultant courses provide correct, accurate and company-appropriate information and training.
This current experience, together with my previous employment, volunteer work and academic studies has given me capabilities in:
-
designing training content for system processes: for processes from company orientation to team management to fire safety operations;
-
developing SCORM compliant training modules;
-
producing demo videos: I have experience with both Articulate’s screen capture utilities and live filming and film editing;
-
conducting both remote and in-person workshops and user needs assessments, using structured methods, formal data-capture techniques and more informal interaction and group reviews;
-
developing animated process diagrams and other custom graphics to support live training;
-
designing for accessibility and ensuring training complies with standards and best practice;
-
documenting and tracking the training modules to ensure appropriate levels of knowledge transfer.

May 2022 - present: Animation and Content Designer. Responsible for managing, creating, maintaining and updating custom e-learning training for multinational companies, eminent universities and government departments, ensuring that the training content truly meets their needs. The personalised content, in multiple languages, provides training in regulatory and compliance subjects such as health and safety, discrimination, cyber security and data protection: the information to be turned into training material is provided by external sources and has been approved by experts and lawyers to ensure it is compliant. The training modules are further customised to provide company-specific training courses for specific aspects, groups and situations. My responsibilities also include adapting and making further customisations to the training to accommodate accessibility needs and testing that the e-learning modules work with the accessibility modes for both Windows and Apple computers. In addition to the management, content and coding components of my job, I am responsible for producing custom graphics and custom interactive elements to support the training and creating animations both with and without the company’s 3D characters.
